A Guide to Del Mar Thoroughbred Club
Del Mar Thoroughbred Club is only about 25 minutes away from our waterfront hotel. This means spending time at the track watching horse racing is a great day trip option for our guests. The track opens around the end of July and runs through mid-September.
The club’s history is rich. When the first guest walked through the gates in 1937, they were greeted by Bing Crosby. The racetrack is also where Seabiscuit won the infamous 1938 race by a nose.
Races generally take place Thursday through Sunday, with gates opening at noon. Check the calendar to see how many races take place on a given day. Tickets can be purchased online. During your time at the club, plenty of food options are available, including restaurants and concessions. Be sure to try one of the signature drinks available at any of the on-site restaurants or bars.
