MAY 03
Few things scream summer as much as Independence Day celebrations. If you’re traveling over the Fourth of July to Intercontinental San Diego this year, you won’t miss out on any of the fun. This California town knows how to put on incredible events that appeal to visitors of all ages. Have fun exploring the city and all its activities during the day before the real festivities begin as the sun sinks into the bay.
A Guide to San Diego Area Events
The San Diego area goes all out on the Fourth of July. No matter where you go, there is sure to be a colorful fireworks display lighting up the night sky.
- Big Bay Boom: The Port of San Diego Big Bay Boom returns again. Fireworks are set off from four barges places around Embarcadero North, Harbor Island, the bay off Shelter Island, Coronado Ferry Landing, and Marina District. The show starts around 9 p.m. and lasts about 18 minutes. If you are planning to watch the show from the water, observe the safety zones and arrive before dark.
- Seaworld Fireworks: From mid-June through summer, Seaworld sets off fireworks nightly, including the Fourth of July. The colorful display starts 10 minutes before park close.
The fun isn’t limited to only fireworks. Start your day off by watching or participating in the Crown City Classic. The annual 5K and 12K run starts and ends at Tidelands Park and gives runners stunning views of the Coronado Bridge. There is also a Crown City Half Mile run for kids.
