JULY 27
Located just north of San Diego, Los Peñasquitos Canyon Trail is the perfect place to get outside and appreciate nature far away from the crowds. At 7.3 miles long, this path is easy and accessible, with terrain well-suited for beginners. Featuring scenery and simplicity, Los Peñasquitos Canyon Trail is perfect for families as well as pets!
Los Peñasquitos translates to “little cliffs” in English. Situated between Sorrento Hills in the north and Mira Mesa in the south, Los Peñasquitos Canyon is renowned for its natural beauty. Along the trail, visitors will see a fresh waterfall flowing through volcanic stone. Closer to the water, California oak and sycamore trees can be found along the rocky landscape.
With its ease of navigation, Los Peñasquitos Canyon Trail can be explored by foot, by bike, or even on horseback. Since much of the trail is in the sun, we recommend bringing a water bottle for the trip to stay hydrated. Also, please note that dogs must be leashed on the trail.
