Experts insist it's as natural and as easily learned as any sport. But for those who are simply in awe of the idea of throwing yourself into a crashing wave without a board, well, perhaps it's better to watch the pros pull the stunt before jumping in.
Bodysurfing is the sport, and San Diego is playing host to the 43rd annual Bodysurfing World Championships this month. Beginning at 6:30 am August 17th and 18th, just off Oceanside Pier, you can watch 350-400 bodysurfers from around the world compete (in their respective age divisions) for trophies and prizes. Winners will be announced Sunday afternoon after the final heat.
